A trolley bus is a rubber-tired electric transit vehicle, manually steered and propelled by a motor drawing current from a central power source. Overhead wires are almost always used to deliver the electricity, although it could be transmitted by an underground conductor or third rail.
It differs from a trolley in that it does not run on rails. It differs from an electric bus in that the energy is delivered from a central source rather than onboard batteries or on-board generation.
Seattle maintains one of the largest fleets of trolley bus fleets in the United States.[1] San Francisco also continues to use trolley buses.
